Slack is one of the most widely used communication platforms in professional organizations today. It allows individuals and teams to communicate efficiently and stay on the same page. So why not connect it to the rest of your applications and turn Slack into your central hub of productivity?

With Azuqua, this is easily achievable. Slack can be connected to Azuqua’s connector library of over 100 different applications. This includes all of your resources for project management, customer experience, IT, HR, marketing, sales, and more. You could even connect Slack with your own internal applications.

Workfront is one good example of a project management connection that can add tons of value. If a new issue is created in Workfront, it would be extremely convenient to have that issue information sent as a Slack message to everyone who needs it. Continue reading or watch the video below to find out exactly how to set up this connection with Azuqua in minutes.

Integrate Workfront with Slack – Video

WFS Step 1

Step 1

Application Event – Workfront – Monitor New Issue

We’re going to start this FLO by monitoring for new Workfront issues. This means that every time a new issue is submitted in Workfront, this workflow will begin. You can customize which fields are used here to fit your needs. I’m just going to do some of the basics for now.

WFS Step 2

Step 2

Workfront – Read an Object

The final Slack card is going to require the username of the person we’re sending a message to, so let’s use Workfront to gather this information. I’m first going to find the email address of the person who this new issue has been assigned to.

You could also use information from Workfront to determine a channel to send the message to, if that suits your needs more.

WFS Step 3

Step 3

Slack – Search User by Email

I’m going to use the email address I found in step 2 to find the Slack username of the corresponding employee.

Again, you could replace this step with finding the corresponding channel in Slack, if that’s more useful for you.

WFS Step 4

Step 4

String – Compose

Now, I want to customize the Slack message. I’m going to add a String Compose card where I can pull all the relevant info together to be sent as a message. I’ll type in a standard message and then drag fields from the Monitor New trigger that started the FLO so that the data is added into the message.

WFS Step 5

Step 5

Slack – Send Slackbot Message

Here’s where the whole FLO comes together. I’m going to drag in the username from Step 3 and the message output from step 4 to complete this Slack card.

Once this step is done, you can test to make sure the FLO works by turning the FLO on, creating a new issue in Workfront, and assigning it to yourself. If it doesn’t seem to be working, fill out our contact form or email us and we’ll be happy to assist you.

And here’s the completed FLO! Now you’ll never have to worry about missing any important information ever again. Real-time notifications customized to your needs have never been so easy.
